Thank You Elvis!

On behalf of the Source1 Purchasing team, thank you to Elvis Morris Donkoh from The Global Opportunity (GO) Fund for joining our team for lunch in Boynton Beach Florida today!

To begin, Elvis shared his life experiences with us detailing how he began his journey growing up in Ghana, West Africa. Today he has dedicated his time towards creating a better quality of life for his home community. Georgette Cartagena, our Human Resources Generalist, was so inspired, she couldn’t resist asking Elvis to take a selfie with her!

Furthermore, the Global Opportunity (GO) Fund is a non-profit organization that promotes the empowerment and enrichment of the lives of women and children in Africa. They do this via educational, social support and entrepreneurial projects.

Additionally, they work hand-in-hand with African-based grassroots organizations to simultaneously build their capacity to serve their own communities while launching sustainable development projects that will carry on their work for years and generations to come.

Source1 Purchasing team members volunteered, once again, for Feeding South Florida!

The Feeding Florida state network provided almost 200 million pounds of food last year alone. Additionally, they are the leading domestic hunger-relief organization committed to transforming lives in South Florida communities.

The organization provides immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and innovative programming and education.

This past Saturday June 30th, the Source1 Purchasing team dedicated their morning to sort and package food and non-food items. With great efforts, the pallets provided were cleared in a matter of 3 hours, proving there is strength in numbers.

Along with other volunteers, Source1 Purchasing volunteers salvaged 3,993 lbs. of items out of the 6,731 lbs. donated to the organization by local residents and grocery stores.

The items salvaged will provide an amazing 3,611 meals in our South Florida community.

These efforts are yet another way our team shows core value #5: “Unity is Strength,” and what better way to do it for the benefit of our community.

Follow this initiative by using #SummerHungerEndsHere on social media.

#Jim Northcutt (5th from left, top row) and Jason Blair (far right, top row) say YES to GLOBAL WELLNESS DAY!

With the slogan “One day can change your whole life,” Global Wellness Day is celebrated on the second Saturday of June every year as an international day. Global Wellness Day is an entirely not-for-profit day, a social project dedicated to living well. The purpose is to ask, even for just one day, “How can I live a healthier and better life?”

On June 8, 2018, the Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association (MBHA), invited the hospitality industry to join them in celebrating Global Wellness Day. Representatives from Source1 Purchasing were happy to attend the festivities at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida.

Click here to watch more of the healthy activities!

Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association (GMBHA) members include more than 180 hotels and 250 allied businesses located across Miami-Dade County. They advocate members’ interests through active involvement in local, state and national issues. Their calendar of events includes monthly hotelier’s breakfast series, monthly networkers and industry luncheons featuring the top leaders in our industry to share  business trends.

Pot Luck Thursday!

What a fun way to learn about our colleague’s local cultures and heritage.

For Pot Luck Thursday, we encouraged our team members to bring in a local dish from their home town or country.

Thank you Kerry Morrick for the German-American Bratwurst; Cecilia Ioannides for the Tzatziki dip and chips and Greek potatoes; Matrina Johnson for the Jamaican Patties and Rice and Bill Maher for the Irish Cheese and soda crackers!

I think just about everyone went for a second helping!
